Okay so just a run down I've been getting this fault code for awhile as I climb into higher elevation 4500 feet so I decided to watch on insite how it comes on and this is what baffled me. I watched the turbo speed go up 117***, 118***, 119***, then it stops at 120000 rpm exact before jumping up above 150000 rpm triggering the code until I back off the pedal or the engine load increases enough to drop the road speed and engine rpm. A quick talk with Unilever confirmed if the data was valid the turbo for sure wouldve self destructed by then, especially after the 181+ events or so. The only issue I have is that my exhaust manifold slip joints are leaking making me suspect an obvious mechanical fault, but watching the data on insite makes me suspect the sensor is putting out bad data?

sounds like it may have been over-boosting too. what engine, what turbo?. CM870 should only be making about 36 psi or so at 500 hp.

turbo is kit# 2881994RX assy#3768264 sn#M011626500221
Boost has been around 38-41psi which is a bit high then I like and for the truck as well egt is abit too low at 650°F and the oil and coolant temps come up quicker then I like as well making me suspect the engine is running a bit too lean?

too much power in a volvo, its needs to go down a hair and so does the boost slightly.

the engine is over 500hp.
When I had turbo overspeed codes on my 60 series, it was a boost leak unilevers asked me if i had checked for boost leaks and I said yes but why I had done was spray everything with soap and water. The problem with that was the CAC was blown behind the ac condenser so I couldn't get to it with soap and water and ended up dynamiting a new turbo because I was lazy....

Don't be a Brock lol pressure test the thing asap? For the price of a truckstop hoagie you can build a setup to test it.

Maybe pop your pipe going from the turbo to your CAC and make sure there's no oil in there as well.
I did the soapy water test as well but I don't have a way to isolate the CAC as I used a fitting that goes onto the turbo compressor housing only no oil in the plumbing as well, I do wonder if it crapped out as i replaced it during the time the truck was in silent derate.

You can literally use anything to farmer rig a test kit......
Thanks Brock!
