hey guys i know this topic might have been beat to death already, but i cant seem to find any info in past topics so i ll start a new one. what type of gear oil do u guys use for cm871 when u say to put a gallon in at oil change? just wanna try it see if itll actually make a noticeable difference on my engine. 09 isx cm 871 demandated.
Thanks
I use Supertech brand 80w90.
I used supertech 75-140 my last oil change on my cm871
I’ve been using the Supertech 80/90 too. $12 and some change at Walmart is hard to beat.

Sta lube has I believe better additives than Wal-Mart brand.
The one thing I know about Sta Lube, is that the classic car guys swear by the stuff due to the additive package, especially the zinc and Molly. Is it better than what Walmart sells? For our application, I would say either is fine. Me, I stick with the Sta Lube, as I have seen the inside of my motor, it works, you could smell it when the front gear cover came off, the gears had a nice coating of the Sta Lube on them.
Thanks guys
Is there a ratio that you guys are using of gear oil to overall oil capacity? I've got a smaller engine, so 1 gallon would be about 1/4 of my total oil capacity, which doesn't seem like a good idea at that ratio.
