This truck just did this yesterday. The exhaust smells worse then before and sitting idling it kind of misses a beat. Just changed oil and filters. Then did a forced regen. Everything was fine then the idle thing started in the morning when I warmed it up. Drove into Calif. and hasn't done it again but the exhaust still smells. Motor is a factory recon with 417000 miles not deleted. Going to clean the cans when I go home for XMAS.
Thanks Hank
Just re-watched the EGR Tune up videos, going to add that to the list also.
Bubble test your injectors.

Explain "Smells Funny"... that is not a good explanation, several things can be the problem depending on the smell..
Don't know how to explain it. Definitely not normal.

Give it your best guess. Throw something out there. Thankfully there is no smells over the internet so we need something to go on.

If it smells like farts and arm pits, well... then.... as my old man tells me, it's your upper lip.

Is it sweet? Is it a burning smell? Does it smell hot? Is it bitter smelling?
If you add gear oil into your engine, that's a pungent odor for a little while right after the change lol
Are you smelling this inside the cab or only outside when you get right up to the exhaust pipe? Could be something touching the exhaust and burning/melting. Did you look at all the pipes under the cab?
speaking of "smells" ...

Had someone get a hold of me today... said their turbo "smelled like rotten eggs".. only around the turbo area. Heavy smell, and can smell it in the cab of the truck.

I told him that it was not even in the engine .. His batteries were bulged out and have gone bad!.

After he pulled the battery cover off.. sure enough.. they were fried!.
