All the body shops are out a few months so he’s thinking of buying a used 4900 cab and swapping it out with the damaged one. Also having the damaged steel and aluminum parts fixed by a welding shop.Is there anything to look out for with the engine?
Yes sir there is, these engines have very sensitive bearings. Just a few seconds without oil pressure kills them. We average 3 a month locked up. The oil suction module blows a chunk out of them and before the mcm can shut the engine off the engine is already locked up with 90% of the bearings spun. I have 2 here right now with that exact issue. If he didn’t shut the engine off before it was on its side I would be very weary of it.
