CM871 in my 2010 Kenworth was eating antifreeze, hydrolocked after sitting for a long weekend, I assume a dropped liner or bad head. I pulled it out and dropped in a CM570 signature 600.

I talked with Kustom Truck and they told me it was a straight forward swap, just buy our harness and you’ll be good to go. I put their harness in and got everything hooked up. It started right up but is running rough. Showing codes 378,394,396,398; all circuit codes for the fuel actuators. I talked to Kustom again and was told I need to change some settings in my CM570 ecm to let it talk to the truck.

Does anyone know what settings I need to change? I don’t have insite but have a local guy that does, but he has never done a swap like this. Or know a place that can maybe do the settings remotely? Thanks
I wonder if you could have just ran the 570 off the 871 ecm with a custom program and not had to change harnesses and a bunch of extra work.

The research I did says no, but that may be wrong. I’m into it enough now with the harness and everything I just want to program the 570 to run right.
what it is telling you is that ...

378,396 = The metering actuators are not the right coil resistance.
394,398 = The Timing actuators are not the right coil resistance.

If you have the CM570 ecm on it.. and you have a CM570 engine.. then YOU NEED THE CORRECT CM570 IFSM MODULE (that contains the correct metering and timing solenoids) and not one off of a CM871.

Seems like maybe that someone swapped the IFSM (integrated fuel supply module) from a CM871 or CM870 onto that CM570 engine?.

If you try to use the IFSM off the CM871.. it will have the wrong injection timing and the wrong fuel quantities.

Go put the correct IFSM module for a CM570 onto the engine and those codes will go away.

Otherwise.. if it is 100%, a genuine CM570 IFSM module, and you have verified the fuel and timing solenoids to be FOR A CM570 and not something else.. then you simply need to update the software to the latest version from cummins for it.

the one thing you do NOT want to do is hack-job the programming into using the wrong type of solenoids on it. it will not have the correct injection timing or fuel quantities etc. There is a reason they are different part numbers and different coil resistances.

ALSO::: that truck now needs to be re-registered as a 'glider' for it to be legal to drive in the USA. etc.
Is it a used CM570 engine? They run rough and give fuel actuator faults when the ECM is faulty.
I bought the donor truck complete, a 99 western star, it was in a wreck. I put batteries in it and got it running before pulling it out. It ran smooth. 3 of the coils look like they’ve been replaced, and look the same as the 1 original red one. They look different than the ones on my 871. I’ll try to attach a pic. As far as I know they are 570 parts.

Yes it’s a used engine. I bought the donor truck complete and had it running before I pulled the engine out. It ran smooth then.
Can you thoroughly check all connections and pins between the ECM and fuel actuators. All of those faults can be caused by an open circuit.
this wire going to the shut-off solenoid looks corroded and partially cut?.
