Cm2350 problems - TB3NNI5 - 11-25-2025

I have a 2014 cm2350 in a pete that ive had for around 3-4 years. It has always pulled alright on the big road but redlight to redlight wont fall out of a tree, it actually smokes a bit of black in between gears. The jakes work all 3 stages but are absolutely terrible and it runs like a tractor above 1100 rpm. The only code it has thrown has been the turbo actuator code which i took care of.

Exhaust pressure at idle 35inhg
Turbo command and actual are 60%
Map is around 2.1inhg at idle
Baro around 28.9 or so

I have no boost or exhaust leaks and have just replaced the turbo actuator and calibrated with insite and all that good stuff, the veins sweep great and it will pass a vgt test every time.

I have replaced map and ebp sensors.
Cam has not jumped time
Truck is tuned correctly and has 150k on an overhaul

Are some of those pids normal? Ive seen mixed reveiws
Sorry if I've beaten a dead horse just trying to get right

not sure what your asking there ...

is it de-mandated?.. and if so, by who?.

what is the rear end ratio?.

some history?> etc.

also, if it is de-mandated, it should only be making a slight positive pressure to prevent vacuum at face of the turbo.

It is de mandated. I sent you a copy a couple years ago for reveiw. 3.08 rears. My complaint is that its laggy and the jakes are weak compared to other isx trucks, stage 3 is about like most peoples stage 1.
Its always seemed to me like the vgt isnt closing up when it needs to. Just replaced the actuator though and checked the veins all was free and working. Calibration went good and all but still just isnt right. Is this not a vgt issue or am i missing something?

Jake brake turbo settings/programming does not get altered on a good de-mandate program. Jake and turbo interaction should operate same as factory programming. If your jake is actually weaker than normal factory engine, then it could be several things.

== leaky injector.
== worn out or leaking Jake solenoids.
== ECM may not have the right dash/addresses in it to see the jake selection switch properly.
== wiring issues.
== leaking CAC system or exhaust manifold.
== partially clogged exhaust, which also causes lower than normal boost levels.
== oil pressures falling below 34~ish psi.
== valve train not adjusted properly.

Do an injector leak-down test on it. If injectors are leaky then the jake will also often be weaker, as it causes cylinders to partially fire from fuel leakage.

and as far as it not getting out of its own way.. that truck has horrible rear ends. That is its nature when someone tries to haul freight with a truck that is geared crappy like that. You could put 600+hp behind it and it would still be sluggish as a dog with garbage 3.08 rears that are not fit for even hauling flowers, nonetheless 80,000 lbs.

I will do an injector leak down test, all of the others ive eliminated so far. The actuator seems to only want to reach 60% nothing higher

RE: Cm2350 problems - TB3NNI5 - 11-26-2025

Except during a vgt hysteresis test, it will go up to high 90%s and pass, driving though even starting out it wants to stay under 60%

Injectors all pass, during a road test with exhaust unhooked, the most The vgt will shut is about 67% even during a high jake event, the computer recognizes the jake on 100% according to the data. Should the vgt not do a full sweep at some point?

NOPE!. That turbo should not be at 100%.... likely ever in fact, during normal engine operations.

what is the max boost seen during jake brake operations and high rpm in sustained long down-hill?.

RE: Cm2350 problems - TB3NNI5 - 11-26-2025

Most times 20-25psi in a long downhill jake.
