07 ISX Elevated Oil Pressure - rtjohnson1982 - Yesterday

Hey guys! So lately I’ve noticed my oil pressure at idle is higher than normal, consistently staying between 32-40+ PSI where it had always stayed in the low 20’s. I know weather temps can effect this to some degree but it’s doing this in warm and cold weather. I looked into it and articles are saying it could be a stuck oil pressure relief valve but wanted to check with the man himself Mr. Rawze before throwing parts at it. I did get a EGR delete last year in case that’s relevant. Thank you!!

Gauge could be reading wrong. Is it higher than normal at all RPM/engine loads? Is this an 870 or 871? Who did the demandate?

I have experienced something similar, idle pressure is 8-10psi higher than used to run, but top end is same as usual. I was chalking it up to the below average temps weve been having.

if the oil is not warmed up all the way, idle pressures will be higher.

Ensure your coolant thermostat is not sticking and engine is at its normal 185-F operating temp.

also, if that de-mandate was not done by one of the people recommended on here,.. that is your next adventure to get it copied out of ecm and reviewed to ensure it is not harmful over time to the engine.

I’ve never reviewed the list on here but the gentleman that did it came highly recommended in the area I live and I personally know multiple people that have used him and are happy. Don’t want to put his name out there just out of respect for him. Rawze I will definitely look into the thermostat because the gauge has acted up in the past. I’m in Charleston,SC and it was 23 this morning at 7am and only got up to maybe 50 degrees but the gauge was showing the coolant temp almost the bottom temp. Sorry I’m not in the truck and can’t remember what the lowest temp on the gauge is but it stayed there most of the day. I’ve also had a loping idle and I’ve noticed that in low range it’s surging when it gets into the higher rpm range but not codes, smoke, etc. Fuel filters are new and about 10,000 miles on the oil change. She just seems to be acting a little sick but she’s still pulling and running local.

YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A BAD DEMANDATE!!! I don't care how highly recommended the guy was or how many people claim he did a fantastic job, you need to have that program looked at by Rawze. Who knows what he put in your ECM, it could have different hardware addresses than the stock program and the oil pressure gauge isn't even reading oil pressure!!!

Thank you and I will look into it! Rawze where would I find the list of mechanics you recommend? Thank you sir!!

I think a good list of mechanics would be with starting with yourself! Do some reading, buy some tools, and start wrenching! These systems on these trucks are easy when you figure them out and it’s not really rocket science. This forum has all the info in the world for these engine's and trucks and if you get stuck with something, just keep asking the questions on here.

And get a copy of that program out of your truck and get it sent over to Rawze for review!

Ok buddy…asking questions on here is literally what I’m doing right now and secondly…I’ve done the services, handled multiple road side breakdowns, and only turned the bigger jobs over to someone else for the last 11 years with this truck and 24 years on the road so save the lecture like I’m a steering wheel holder fresh out of school. Rawze has helped me more times than I can count with this motor and I’m forever grateful for that! After the new head when it sounded like the engine was coming through the hood, he read it and immediately told me it was the head plug. I still tell that story to this day!!With that being said…jump in, give some good advise and help a fellow O/O or take the lecture down the road.
