Cm870 turnup - 3406E - 08-13-2024
Got a cm870 I want turn up mostly the torque. It’s stock at 475 don’t know if it’s running 1650 or 1850 but I would say it’s 1650. The cpl number is 8519 build date 2004. Canadian spec truck 3.73 diff little bigger than the regular 18913A. I read somewhere that my cpl number can only go up to 550 @1850 torque, I would not want more than to be honest. I’m fine with even 500 525 @ 1850.
The truck is not deleted. Also looking to take off the speed limit from 65 to 75 mph. I think it was set a 65 because that’s the speed limit in Canada. Any suggestions do’s and don’ts? Go to Cummins to get this done? Any good shops? I have Cummins insite but the the option are locked I can only clear codes and I don’t have calibration files either. Thanks

Do not post adverts from other forums etc. like that to prevent getting your account muted. just a bit of a warning.
As far as power/torque goes.. you can 'wish' for a lot of stuffs, but if it is not build with the Tier1 (higher HP) injectors and other hard parts then all you will do is shorten the life of the injectors and the engine itself.
Only 1650trq is weak by any standards for an ISX... but also, the more torque you add, the shorter the overall lifespan will become too. Lifespan vs more torque needs to be considered first and foremost.
As far as custom program is concerned,.. forum member 'running rough' specializes in CM7870's and all their quirks specifically. Maybe get with him to see what options are actually available that are safe for it.

how can i know what its built with and what hp and torque it can go to

You can set it at whatever you want. Rawze is telling you that the higher you go the shorter the engines lifespan will be.
Custom programming doesn't have those limitations (within reason) it isn't a pre made factory file with a set hp/trq.

ohh i get what your saying, i always thought some of the files like the 500 525 550 565 600 were premade from cummins that you could just slap on the ecm with a simple click didn't know they were all customized.
