I guess that's not the case? Only the newest 2018, X15 engine did they somewhat reduce this fuel pump problem. You say your is 2016,.. Clearly a CM2350, and clearly in that category of "fuel pump of total engine death" category. Listen to the words of others on here and have the guts for the fuel pump changed by the time it gets 400k miles on it maximum (or equivalent ~roughly 8,300 engine hours?). RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - InmotionProstar - 05-15-2019 Thanks for the input. I will certainly get the fuel pump done immediately, and have it checked out by Mr. Hagg. RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - jimeneztrans84 - 05-15-2019 How often do you replace the fuel pump plungers and tappets? Anyone have a part number for the 2 cyl fuel pump plungers and tappets? I replaced mine like 250k miles ago but can't remember the part numbers. I got lucky truck had 475k with 3 cyl pump, bought it at 450k and prayed every day untill I changed it that the plungers wouldn't take out the motor. RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - Lonestar10 - 05-15-2019 basicaly 350-400k rip it apart and put new guts in RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - jimeneztrans84 - 05-15-2019 By rip it apart you mean barrels and plungers? RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - Lonestar10 - 05-16-2019 a full rebuild so yes all internal parts replaced RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - Evotrucker - 05-16-2019 Id replace that damn fuel pump or rebuild it ever 150k-200k miles just because.... if that thing goes of, its like a damn IED lol.... and its no laughing matter whats so ever!. were urging you to get that thing rebuilt or replaced ASAP. You cant even push your luck with it.... its a 40k problem at bare minimum. RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - Waterloo - 05-16-2019 I would not move the truck until it is fixed. When they go, they go, and rarely is there any warning. This is not paranoid thinking, this is smart thinking. RE: New to me 2016 Prostar- What now? - SquareOne - 05-16-2019 Just for a reference....does anyone have the part numbers for the rebuilding the fuel pump on the cm2350? Does Cummins offer a kit (for those who have done it). |
