Diesel in storage since October - Dieselboy - 03-14-2025

Been stationary in WA state since October. Diesel tank is about 3/4 full. Have a big trip down to San Diego in a couple weeks. What action should I take (if any) for the diesel and motor prior to the trip? This is a 2008 CM871 with EGR and DPF. I have new fuel filter and water separator ready to go. I realize I probably should have added a diesel stabilizer back in October but didn't realize that I'd have been sitting this long.

Thanks all!

Diesel is more stable than gasoline.

Just make sure the alternator is not rusted up, etc.. and that it turns over easily. Bump the starter gently using the keys-witch a few times and make sure engine is not stiff before outright cranking on it.

It will likely run like s$it till it gets warmed up and all the oil in the right places again ... so don't try to drive away until it smooths out for about 20+ minutes.
