Cat c15 IVA - davidjrawls - 03-19-2025

Needing the orings for the pistons on the Iva housings for an c15 acert Iva housing. Goes in the groves where I’m pointing in the picture. Cat says I have to buy the whole housings. Hopping someone has ran into this already.

Cat decided all the IVA housings are non-serviceable other than changing the solenoids, so no official parts are available for what you want.
Your best bet would be to go to a hydraulic service/repair shop and see if they would have any orings that would be the right size, I imagine they are a viton oring with the pressures they could see on the piston.

Hopefully this is not during one of those attempts to modify the IVA valve operations... If you value your head gasket and engine that is.

Many a moron has modified them to be permanently closed during a de-mandate, only to find out the hard way that it is NOT a good idea ... unless ....

They can be modified to be permanently closed and run the engine at 19:1 compression ratio full time, .. but that also requires the boost to be turned down to 33-34 psi max too. Allowing the boost to go above this = excessive dynamic compression ratio and engine/head/gasket damage.

Just trying to get them all back in working factory order. Without having to spend 4k on housings just because I need rings.
