Isx15 2250 cpl 3491tools and equipment newb - Bidslinger - 04-12-2025
Recently purchased 13 model Peterbilts with low miles. They have problems and I knew it when I bought them. Is
there a place that list diagnostic equipment and tools on here? Never owned Cummins, but I have owned nothing but Cat since 90. Thank for the help and thanks for allowing me to join.

Red engines need regular maintenance and tune-up work (egr piping/sensors cleaned out yearly, overhead valve adjustments, etc.) for them to stay happy. You cannot neglect them or its DPF/emissions system problem city.
That being said, an 'Inline 6' adapter is needed so that your computer can to talk to ecm is a must, along with the Insite and Calterm softwares.
The Softwares itself can be had for free if someone looks in the right places on the interwebs, and the inline-6 adapter can be from china for a couple hundred bucks, or an official one, does not matter.

I apologize for my ignorance, but can insite be purchased as well as calterm to save myself legal issues or is that a moot point. Also I noticed that when I searched for inline6 I keep getting inline7 data link products coming up. Again I Apologize. Thanks

As far as I know and have seen ...
Insite (basic version only, which mostly sucks) can be purchased from official sources, I.E.> the red engine maker, but the CT software cannot be purchased officially. Hence why many people will resort to getting it from alternate sources like I said.
CT cannot be obtained at all "officially" whatsoever, ... and Insite Pro or ProPlus version, which does not suck so much, cannot even be purchased thru normal means without multiple-thousands of $$$, and subscriptions, forced yearly training classes they make you take that are $$$$ big time, jumping thru big-moneys corporate hoops, etc.
As far as an inline 6 .. just search 'Inline 6 adapter kit' on amazon, ebay, etc... and you'll see a lot of them. Inline7 is also ok too if you can get it at reasonable price.
You can blame the red engine maker for being so greedy with their softwares, and for forcing truck owners into having to look for 'Alternate' sources for the softwares that they need just to maintain, etc. their own trucks properly.

The red engine manufacturer as well as the green tractor manufacturer unfortunately are among many following the trend of design obsolescence. Technology seems to be a liability with all my avenues of making a living. Thanks for the information!
