aftertreatment issues - scott441974 - 04-15-2025

Can anyone help? I've changed every sensor, dpf and doc has been cleaned. Still getting a code for aftertreatment differential pressure sensor. What could be the problem? What do I need to check now? Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Inspect the reference lines to the sensor for debris or blockage. Possible latest and greatest software revision.

.
== how were the units cleaned?.

== Also, it is the ENGINE that causes excess soot, etc. - When was the last time you did a full EGR tune-up, replacing engine sensors, cleaning out all the EGRpiping, inspecting the EGR cooler for packing, etc?.

Thank you all for the replies. I have replaced all the sensors. Haven't checked and cleaned the egr/piping, cooler. (doing that today) The filters were sent off to be cleaned by {third party} in Macon. The hoses were taken off and checked/cleaned. Truck is a 2019 389 X15 esn 80215316 ecm code is 10428.10. I did check for the latest software revision and only get esn not available on quickserve.

X15 injectors have been failure prone lately, with the aftertreatment off, snap the throttle a few times and see if you're not dumping black/white smoke.

If they used a liquid process to clean the units, it cuts their lifespan in half or less, and you have noting but issues after that. - ANY liquids washes out the precious metals, and then its problem city with them.

Also... When you put the units back on, did you do a 'DPF Replacement Procedure' in Insite?. if not then your just pi$$ng up wind, as it will not reset the 'soot counter' unless you do so and it will continue to complain about a clogged DPF.

Yes, I reset the dpf in Insite then performed a regen. Everything cleared and it did good for about 1/2 the day. Then the diff pressure sensor came back. I believe I need to clean the egr and cooler like your article says then go from there. I may be just fighting a losing battle until its all clean.

If it only lasted 1/2 a day, and you did everything right, then the units maybe did not get cleaned properly,.. or would not pas a flow-est. That or maybe the Delta-P sensor (or its piping, or wiring) has issues.

Next time, take them to a proper OEM stealers$it to have them cleaned, that has the machines in house (their own proper machinery), instead of some third-party cleaning service.

Also, has anyone bothered to check the decomp tube for clogging???...
this article may help + talks about the decomp tube ...

last but not least... ALWAYS, ALWAYS take pictures of the faces of the aftertreatment units whenever you pull them apart, so that there is a record of what was built up on them, and how bad they were, and how long it took them to get that way. Also so that pics can be posted for second opinion as to why they clogged to begin with.

Have you taken them apart a second time to ensure they did not actually clog up that fast?.
Have you verified the rest of the exhaust to ensure it is not blocked somewhere?.
Have you verified the exhaust is not leaking somewhere, causing false/incorrect pressure readings?.

EGR tune-up solves most DPF issues... the engine is what makes the soot .. not the DPF. Also, When is the last time you cleaned or replaced the Doser injector behind the turbo?.

You also did not mention how old the units were / how many miles they had on them, etc. They could very well be simply worn out,.. or could have been cleaned improperly at one point and are now, no good.

And what type of driving do you do?..., city, highway, ec?... do you shift a hole lot.. and do you let the vehicle coast in neutral a lot?. - All those things have an effect on how often it can regen going down the roads.
