2006 ISX 870 565HP - VolvoVT - Yesterday Hello everyone, I have been reading for years content on this website and today i finally submitted a request to be a member and got an invitation code shortly after so thank you for this. My question is about the cummins that i have in my VT880. I have purchased it 2 years ago but i have not driven it much. I did maybe 4-5 trips with it. Since i have purchased it, i noticed the coolant temp to continuously going up even bobtailing and on flat land. It would stay at 200+F and EGT would be 800F or slightly more, mpg would be poor even bobtailing or being with an empty trailer even worse at 4-5 mpg grossing 52klbs. I have papers from previous owner who rebuilt it at 1mln miles at a cummins dealer in AZ. It currently has 1.4mln miles. Previous owner also had the egr unplugged and welded. In order to fix the problem or at least to narrow down to where the issue is, i started replacing parts which were old or have never been replaced and the truck needed them anyway. These are all new: radiator, intercooler, water pump, lower temp coolant thermostat, all engine wiring along with sensors, turbo, camshaft (had a few spots where it had indentations), replaced the rocker arms where the indentations were on the camshaft, fuel pump, injectors and flushed fuel system due to having metal particles from the gear of the old fuel pump. At the time of the injector replacing job, there was only 1 injector available in all of Chicagoland dealers, and i replaced them with {aftermarket} injectors. Dropped the oil pan to check the bottom and all looked ok down there. Engine serial# is 79115304, CPL 8518. Asked shop to check ECM program if it is original or smbd played with the parameters and they said it is the original. After all these was done to the truck, i am having the exact same issues with high coolant and egt temps. To compensate for high coolant temp shop installed a lower temp thermostat, but this is just masking the problem and does not solve it. What should i look at this point? I would hate to throw money at it again with the same results. Spoke to rawze and he mentioned to discuss it with the user "running rough". RE: 2006 ISX 870 565HP - Rawze - Yesterday according to that ser#, the program that belongs in it is AB10352 |
