Fuel Supply issues on X15 ( and solution ) - Frosty Skippy - 09-08-2026

G'day people,

Thought it was time to share my adventure into reviving the fuel system on the new to me 2350.

Backstory: The truck was purchased from a co-worker for peanuts after it gave him ongoing issues through winter ( Canadian, so a little harsh at times ).
The final straw was that it would shut of at random and crank - no start.
I've been along side his work and upkeep on the unit, so when he mentioned just sending it to the auctions, a deal was struck.

He had gelling issues at one point. the mechanic thet helped him get running mentioned that the fuel pump was showing signs of impending failure. ( Shavings in the filter ).

With this in mind I Have rebuilt the high pressure side of the pump and replaced the low pressure gear pump, Just so i have a solid point to continue forward from.

The interesting part was the fact it would not supply fuel to the high pressure side.
Initially i thought this may have been a broken wire at the ECM ( i had a fair amount of this issue when i ran a CM570 in australia ) but not a break to be found. Cummins have built in a support clamp on the ecm to mitigate the vibration fatigue i experienced on the old model.

At this point, "everything" appeared to check out ok so i was stumped. I noted a intermittent dash chassis module error. This should have been a clue as at times it would also throw a no ecm communications fault, but this too was inconsistent.

After a day of loading and unloading machines, i returned to investigations. the problem was found by my fatigue from the heat and humidity.
I was leaning over the steering wheel and when i cycled the key to start probing wires, i pushed the key into the barrel a bit harder than normal.

All errors gone, so i tried crank and its now living like nothing ever happened.

Moral is, sometimes its not always a difficult cause. Mine was a simple worn ignition barrel causing inconsistent connections for the ecm and chassis controller. where it escaped attention is all other power worked. This has multiple hot outputs on the barrel for different sub-systems.
