Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 Hello everyone, can I get some insight on what the symptoms are for an oil pump going bad. The reason I ask is my trucks oil psi is down 6 psi when driving down the road. Its at about 29-30psi at 60mph rpm at about 1300. Its usually at 35-36psi. Everything else seems normal. I'm taking it in tomorrow to have pressure tested to see if its sensor. Gauge matches with Insite. This is on '10 PROSTAR with @m*m^2 Truck has 800,000 miles. Only thing different I noticed on engine is a leak I had in between turbo hose and alternator is leaking more. I'll post PIC. RE: Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 Here's another pic. RE: Oil Pump - Hammerhead - 01-07-2017 I can't tell for sure, but if that is the steel braided oil line that runs from the top of the oil filter head to the back of the turbo, that is your turbo supply line! It is full pressure oil, and if it is leaking it needs to be replaced ASAP. It will kill your turbo if it fails! It would also dump your pressurized oil supply to the rest of the engine right quick. Oh, and it is between your oil pump and the sending unit, so if it is leaking it will/can directly affect oil pressure. RE: Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 Its not the turbo return line. Here's another pic. RE: Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 One more. RE: Oil Pump - Hammerhead - 01-07-2017 I can see the oil stain/mess, but I can not see the source. Since the turbo oil supply line, under full oil pressure is in the area of your pics and I can't see the source of your leak, it was a cautionary note for you to check closer. RE: Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 Dropped off with mechanic. I noticed dipstick showing like its over limit. Might be fuel got in the oil. It looks like it might be a gasket. RE: Oil Pump - PuroCumminsPower - 01-07-2017 So far my mechanic says #6 can lobe is really bad. They found fuel in oil as well.. |
