2002 non egr isx 500 cm570 - turbo question - ktbtrucking - 03-01-2017

helo all,
have a truck with I believe cm570. It is isx 500 non egr isx. My boost gauge is from 0 to 30max.
Checked it on insite had 18psi max a little more than a half on the gauge. . My other truck cm870 have around 34max psi and the gauge is from 0 to 45.Just curious. Any thoughts regarding this. As far as I read over in the past it is hard to "kill" the turbo on cm 570 because it just spin but is not as efficient as should be. It is non Vgt turbo.
Thank you

anyone knows what is the typical boost pressure for this engine and turbo?
isx 500 non egr non vgt turbo

isx 500 non egr non vgt turbo

When Mr Hagg looked at mine, he told me max boost is about 20. I do my best to keep it at 10 when running for good fuel mileage.

Sounds like a boost leak. Idk what your normal boost should be, but 18psi seems too low regardless. Make sure wastegate isn't opening too soon either. I'm GUESSING you should be in the 32-36 psi range. That 570 may not hold the reputation as mpg king, but in proper condition is a great engine with many profitable miles in it

32-36 seems like an awful lot for a straight non Vg turbo. Seems like you would really be dumping fuel in it to boost like that.

To be honest i would say at least 25 to 28 i know the 600 2050 is closer to 38psi.

Gearhead is right, anymore than around 33-35 psi and the ECM will derate it with turbo overspead

RE: 2002 non egr isx 500 cm570 - turbo question - ktbtrucking - 03-04-2017

i have 18psi max on insite and gauge is 30 max so talking about something more than 30 sounds silly
there is no turbine speed sensor that measures turbo rpm on this engine on insite
so with 18psi I have either air leak or some kind of turbo restriction that makes turbo max psi around 18psi
all I wanted to know is what is typical boost pressure for this engine
and
yes I appreciate all the replies

Yes there is no speed sensor in the turbo. The ECM calculates an overspeed through a boost reading from intake pressure. You either have a bad boost leak , the wastegate needs an adjustment, the diaphragm set up on the intake manifold where the wastegate hose gets line pressure is faulty and supplying to much pressure to the wastegate causing it to open prematurely. The hx60w on that engine will open The waste gate around 25 psi of line pressure and bleed boost off . So I doubt there's a problem with the diaphragm arrangement on the intake which is designed to reduce the line pressure to waste gate and allow it to open later and create more boost . It's most likely you have a bad boost leak somewhere to be only getting 18psi .
