isx advice - mikestrucks - 02-12-2018

My 03 isx has been a great motor but now has 1.1 million! I have yearly overhead run and its starting to use a gallon of oil about every 10 thousand miles. question is should i go till something major happens or should i be trying to do rods and mains or what options short of a full and costly in frame. Thanks for any guidance!

You should have done the rods and mains at 800k to prevent acceleration of wrist pin bushing wear. They are over-due at this point.

Many ISX truck owners skip this and then wonder why a piston goes through the block at 1.1 - 1.2 mil miles with no warning due to wrist pin failure.

-- you have been warned!.

While your at it, you should read through this as well. It is a warning to see how worn out the head is. It starts at the section in the post "Checking worn out valve seats"...
