Cm871 swap to a N14 - Bigstank - 12-10-2018 I got a new 1999 525hp N14 and was wondering is there much to do on a swap from a cm871 in a 2010 T660? Thanks RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - Lonestar10 - 12-10-2018 computer/wire harness/engine mounting/trans mounting/driveline/fuel routing/radiator mounting and or hose routing/ accessory drive locations and hookups.. without a donor of same relative model..might just be a nightmare. Thanks don't forget about the ten thousand bucks or so a year in fuel mileage losses compared to a good running 871. RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - Bigstank - 12-10-2018 Not to worried about fuel mileage. My other truck is a 379 pete with a 6nz cat lol. I'm just looking for reliably. This 871 has been a great motor even with your mm tune. This n14 is a rebuilt crate that given to me free from a relative who sold his business and retired a month ago RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - Lonestar10 - 12-10-2018 you would probably be better off finding a rig with a blow n14 then on the cheap and replace as youll probably be thousands into a swap. RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - DLC - 12-10-2018 Swaps are cool. But unless you are a short haul business and do your own mechanic work I don't think it's a good fit. Find a nice older truck with a problem N14 and swap it in. RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - Nilao - 12-10-2018 There are also legal implications to doing a retrofit from newer to older...just like demandating a truck, replacing the engine in a truck that had filters on it with an enigine that doesn't violates the federal law governing emissions. RE: Cm871 swap to a N14 - Unilevers - 12-10-2018 swapping a n14 into a new truck is EXTREMELY HARD. N14 run Positive commons instead or ground common. So now you have to go through the entire truck and isolate the entire common system for the ecm or it will short out and fry the second you hook it up - can you guess how many connections there are on a truck in the common system that go to a ground? also n14's cannot handle electronic dash's (except for that stupid translator box which is 100% garbage) so have fun hardwiring the entire dash to old style gauges. You are also not a legal truck and can be pulled for not complying with emissions years unless you register it as a glider. You should not have done this, i have done it myself on 2 occasions before and i will never do it again. Uni |
