hey bro ,I PMD you my number

your turbo is toast - it is fine in the sub 50ish percentages but it cannot swing into the 75+ needed for jaking and proper regens and you have verified that the turbo arm does not have full travel. You are running on borrowed time and no amount of turbo calibrations is going to fix this - it is very common for those turbo's to do this. if you had the mandate removed it wouldn't be a issue as the turbo almost never swings that high but it is needed with the systems functioning.

also driving around at 5 and higher on the differential pressure is extremely bad. you are destroying your engine from the inside out - food for thought.

Not that I haven't seen new parts br bad but it's a new turbo.

the lever seems to have perfect full range of motion. it glides across real good and it doesn't feel like it hangs up, it feels like it hits a wall and clunks at either side.... it's just when it clunks all the way to the right, the hole is lined up perfectly at that point.

I know you can't see the hole in the pic but that's dead on lined up in that position.

Code is still coming up today so calibration didn't do anything.

What I'm thinking is pure speculation!
How about "weak" stepper motor?

The one position looks fine to me ,, Do you have a pic with it in the opposite position?

Also, a new turbo with a worn out actuator is never a good idea.

no I don't. same deal though, goes all the way till it clunks.

RE: HEST light on too often... - Unilevers - 06-27-2016

sorry i misread your post i thought you said it did not have full range of travel.

i bad actuator is probably the culprit as long as your travel moves fully BUT i have seen turbo's move fully when lower temp then under high loads/temps stick. there really isnt any testing for a actuator that is intermittent - just that if it is failing horrible.

Got to checking my calibration file in my ecm.... I don't know what file I've got in here but I know it dosent match.

According to quickserve..

I'm gonna try and get the proper cal file and install it later today.

If memory serves Cummings updated the dpf on some trucks which changed the cpl numbers requiring the newer cals to be put in.
