Sometimes with just key in on position it is turning ECM on and off as fan solenoid keeps blowing off

RE: New ecm - Lonestar10 - 07-12-2019

Back at Cummins programming another ECM turns out most likely a bad key on power pin as their bench couldn't get it to fire up either. Also paid the 625 bucks to keep my original ECM in case this other new one is a dud.

Welp back to original ECM 2nd ECM off the shelf at Cummins wouldnt communicate with their computer my original would come on like a pro.

sounds like to me that their bench harness may be pushing one of the pins in when their plugging it in?. that or second one was in rom-boot mode and they did not know how to recover it?

just think how bad of a time it would have been if you had not let them try to flash it themselves first. they would have accused you of the problem.

RE: New ecm - Lonestar10 - 07-13-2019

Yeah their harness would connect right up to my old ECM but they couldn't get any communication lights at all when connect to either of the remans. The first reman that did accept a flash the tech said he had a bit of trouble connecting to when it did program. The 2nd one never connected at all. Where every time they hooked up my original it worked

RE: New ecm - Lonestar10 - 07-15-2019

so cummins is getting in some different ECMs and ive been promised they will have a working one for me.

now im going to keep my core as it still runs. but im just wondering does anyone have any experience having one repaired? just thinking that once i finally trust the new ECM they give me to keep running that i might send my current one out for a refresher somewhere as 1900-2000 for one off the shelf at the cummins and it still doesnt work is kind of a joke.

I see when searching google theirs a few places listed 499-599 bucks but i want to make sure it went somewhere that would replace all the caps/diodes and such that wear out over time. and that test the circuits to make sure they are within whatever the specs are suppose to be.

be nice if we had a place like our turbo man in georgia for all the different refurbish able parts on these things.
