You think this really is brand new?? - tree98 - 07-02-2019 Where would they get 13 year old engines that are brand new? I would love to trust them but...... what do you guys think? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F292724632082 RE: You think this really is brand new?? - Rawze - 07-02-2019 get the enigne ser# and call cat to verify>? RE: You think this really is brand new?? - Old Driver - 07-03-2019 Their website is rebuiltcaterpillarengines.com MCJ Diesel Engine Sales, Houston RebuiltCaterpillarEngines.com RE: You think this really is brand new?? - dhirocz - 07-03-2019 If you have to ask, then stay away. There is a growing trend that misrepresents parts as 'new' or 'unused' when they are technically a reman. New, remanufactured and refurbished are all different things. These people are trying to capitalize on consumer ignorance. I wouldnt do business with them. Last person who tried to shove that down my throat got told to eat a fat one and choke on it (he was kinda pushy lol) RE: You think this really is brand new?? - tree98 - 07-03-2019 I'm going to call cat like Rawze said, I'll see what they say. Next I'll get in touch with ebay and paypal to find out if they would cover my ass for a return if it turned out to be a scam. RE: You think this really is brand new?? - RocketScott - 07-03-2019 With the UID tag it's probably military surplus The cage code checks out. 11083 is CATERPILLAR INC DEFENSE AND FEDERAL PRODUCTS DIV The way it's stuck on the engine looks kinda fishy but here's another listing for the same thing, different serial number: http://www.adelmans.com/caterpillar-c7-acert-370hp-unused-govt-surplus-engine-rmf08497 RE: You think this really is brand new?? - tree98 - 07-03-2019 (07-03-2019 )RocketScott Wrote: With the UID tag it's probably military surplus So your saying you think it is new? Any reason to stay away from it if it is military surplus? RE: You think this really is brand new?? - Rawze - 07-03-2019 (07-03-2019 )RocketScott Wrote: With the UID tag it's probably military surplus could be legit, but something odd about those photo's ---> none of the wood looks aged at all on those things. They could have at least had the decency to place them in an area that was not a complete shi#t$hole during the photo-taking session,.. what a dirty, nasty place, just saying. RE: You think this really is brand new?? - Unilevers - 07-03-2019 its a scam if they say its 13 years old i ran the numbers. The engine was built in 2009 and was shipped to the military in 2010. Its very possible it was unused in the military, but i caution you strongly about buying any engine with military assignment. They are not legally allowed to sell them to the public without being decommissioned as military and defense engines are not emissions compliant. They are higher power and dont have to meet on road emissions - therefore by you buying one you are essentially deleting whatever you put it in. The buying of military surplus unused engines is a very large grey area if they dont have a hole in the block. most defense spec engines wont function in a road vehicle anyways as many parts are different.
