Before I do something stupid here.... - DDlighttruck - 11-02-2019

I cleaned all the left over threads out of the bung, but most of the left behind threads fell in the exhaust pipe. Then I ran a tap and very gently chased the threads.

Should I pop the exhaust pipe off to clean it out?

Logic and common sense say the exhaust will blow it away from my turbo......just thought I’d ask before I do something I regret

Hard to tell but looks like your after the turbo right? If so should be fine

unless your turbo works in reverse the shavings should wind u on the ground behind you somewhere at some point if you dont have a dpf.

Yes, that bung is after the turbo.

Ok, two votes for “it’ll be fine”....
Thanks fellas

Don't be that guy.

What's down stream from there? Any filters or muffler?

This should be one of those moments in your life where you realize your being ridiculously lazy and you should take a moment and do what we all do. Take a deep breath say "ya, I'm not a lazy POS. I'm gonna do every job I do, right. This is the kind of shi#t I bitched about when I paid some lazy shitbag $130/hrs and he skipped doing it. Its time to pull the pipe apart. I won't regret it after the jobs done."

It's ridiculous because you worked so hard and diligently to do your project. Just so at the end you can half ass it by not taking 15 minutes more to swipe out the pipe.

Don't be that guy

hence why i said if no filters if there are then its a bugger and needs to come apart.

That’s enough metal to warrant pulling the pipe

All back together. New pyro thermocouple, and new turbo actuator. Pipes clean.

It’s geeky, I had the turbo actuator testing procedure printed off that Chamberpains posted for me. I torqued the bolts to 12.5 foot pounds and 17 foot pounds respectively. Lots of anti seize. I dunno most guys probably would’ve just tightened them with a ratchet.

Hopefully that fixes my pyro problem, if not I’m guessing it’s the gauge

My mantra is, never start an engine wondering what might happen.
