It is the same thing that happens when the bull gear goes out, but the ddec V engines have a completely different bill gear with straight cut gears. You do not usually see them fail. The air compressor has been known for snapping, I have also seen quite a few fuel pumps snap as well. There has been quite a few Detroit's that I could not get to fire off ether. Definitely not the first time I heard of a cold Detroit not running on either
