about a month or so. since the outside temps started getting hotter.

On my 2350 oil pressure at 650rpm is 25psi, when driving 40-42psi. If you idle your truck always raise rpm atleast 850rpm, this will raise oil pressure to valve cam.

Plus by Cummins recommendation will produce less soot.

15 PSI is the bare minimum required oil pressure at idle from my understanding. Personally, I would like to see it up at 18+ at idle and that is what it is on my CM871.

I do run a gallon of gear lube though too, and that helps it a lot in this regard, especially in hotter weather. It is also why I use a gallon of 85/140 instead of 80/90 in the mid summer months.

holy shi#t guys, anything below 20psi hot idle is scary.

it is not supposed to be that low.

Which type of gear lube do you use rawze? And what is the gear lube supposed to do?

Sta-Lube, GL4, CM-871 and older motors.

On the newer trucks with SCR systems a GL5 gear oil is recommended.

Here is what Rawze and many of us use in our CM-871 and older motors... https://www.amazon.com/Sta-Lube-SL24239-GL-4-Multi-Purpose-Hypoid/dp/B000M8RYMC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468774578&sr=8-1&keywords=stalube

You can find this at most NAPA stores... Watch for it as it is on sale now at NAPA. https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/SLRSL24239/SLRSL24239

Here is the GL5 on sale too at NAPA https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/SLRSL2473/SLRSL2473

Sometimes Amazon is cheaper and other times NAPA... I just order off of Amazon, two gallons at a time.

I use one gallon at every oil change, this is in a freshly in framed motor. It has the extra additives that keep our motors happy, and helps coat the surfaces, especially in the head.

Can I start adding this on a 2011 cm2250 with 501,000 miles? Would it help it or only on freshly inframed motors?
