Oil analysis ISX15 - Baldmann81 - 11-18-2020
Looking for thoughts on my recent oil analysis. I have isx15 cm2350 and I run 10 gal delo 400 and 1 gal of super tech gear oil, usually 85-140. I decided to get oil sample done at the local cat dealer and everything came back fine according to them. The zinc was listed at 208 ppm, seems very low? Or...[attachment=7264]

I was thinking that I read on here it should be around 1200 - 1400 ppm....should I be running a zinc additive as well maybe?

Rawze, be glad for any input you would have on this. This sample was done at my last oil change which was 10,800 miles on the oil.

I wasn't using delo oil but was using a gallon of 80w90 gear oil and my zinc would be around 1,000ppm.

think rotella has around best starting zinc levels before gear oil added.

I think something is off about that sample, I would call Cat and ask if they can run it again. The lowest I've seen Zinc is with Mobil Delvac and that was like 800 - 900 ppm without gear oil.

Thanks for the input, confirms what I thought....I wasn't sure if I was confused or if the zinc decreases during usage or something...

On another note, be glad for thoughts on Sunoco Super C and Super C gold oil. My local supplier is recommending them and says they are very close to the old delo 400 le formula as far as zinc, phosphorus etc...Will try to post specs
