Volvo 670 with 2250 - Volvo670 - 12-20-2020 Hello to all, This is my my first post since joining, I've been mostly reading and getting up to speed with this new world of knowledge. I have a 2013 Volvo with a 2250 that was demandated at a shop in Texas. I'm setup on Insite but for the life of me I can't find a working Calterm 3 so I can download my current programming to send to Rawze for review. Can someone please PM me on this? The shop that did my demandate told me that he didn't add new programming, but instead he just "turned-off" all of the systems related to aftertreatment, but I've read enough horror stories here to be wary of anything a shop tells me anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Waterloo - 12-20-2020 You have a bad delete, no doubt about it, did he hollow out the cans? Search the internet, you may want to try some of the car tuning sites for the CT. RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - JimT - 12-20-2020 Second that, 99.99999% chance it's a bad delete. Simply "turning off" some stuff isn't enough. Not jacking up the HP or torque is good, but some modification is needed to compensate for lack of EGR and plenty of other things that Rawze points out all the time. And as Waterloo said, if those cans weren't COMPLETELY hollowed out, ALL 3 OF THEM, then you're headed for trouble! RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Volvo670 - 12-21-2020 Thank you both for the response. So my cans had a big hole put in them, I couldn't tell you how big the whole was but it seemed about 6' if I had to guess. Is it better to have them completely taken out or just simply have a hole on them? RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Waterloo - 12-21-2020 Hollowed out, did you get that email? That is what you need to fix that mess. RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Volvo670 - 12-21-2020 (12-21-2020 )Waterloo Wrote: Hollowed out, did you get that email? That is what you need to fix that mess. I got it! Thank you! Working on installing C....erm right now. Back on the cans(sorry) the one 6ish inch hole will not work? RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Waterloo - 12-21-2020 No, hollow the cans out, get all of the restrictions out. The SCR can is the one that will be a bear, you can leave it on and pound it out with a metal rod or anything that is sturdy, and long enough to get to the end of the can. Odds are, it was not touched and is still intact. Or, drop it, cut the end off, clean it out and weld the end back on. Either or, a PIA. Pretty sure it was not touched as I only recall the shop taking 2 cans out and poking the hole on them. Will definitely work on this project on the next couple of days, I'm going to try to fix the ecm issue first. I was considering taking the trip to see Mr. Hagg but this being the holidays I don't know his availability, that and I'm 800miles away. RE: Volvo 670 with 2250 - Waterloo - 12-21-2020 Well, if you don't mind the physical work, and it is not too cold where you are at, you can do this. I would get under the valve cover and run an overhead, along with inspecting the cam and rollers. How long has this tune been on there? The longer it is on, the more damage that is done, you really need to get under the valve cover to inspect that camshaft. The overhead procedure is on QuickServe and Rawze did a very good video on how to actually do one on the CM-871. You only have one cam to be concerned with and fewer steps. The procedure is the same on both motors, other than the injector adjustment on the 871, which you can skip on your 2250. The exhaust specs are identical. |
