What's the oil psi at full operating temperature? I did my bearings and pump and it's still the same 16-18 psi at idle and 36-38 at rpm going down the road. I'm going to shim the pump with 8 dimes next oil change. I tried 1 gallon of gear oil but only got 1-2 psi extra.

At idle I get 18 and going down the road it's 30 but when I first start the truck in the morning it go to 80 and come back down to 35.

Wow 80 psi? That's alot. 30 psi going down the road seems too low. They recommend 35-40 rpm and 15psi idle being the lowest. The lowest I got in 115 degree outside temp going steep grade was 34 psi with 78,000 gvw. Maybe someone might reply on that 30 psi...

30psi at highway speeds is much lower than average. I would shim the oil pump and clean the oil pickup tube. Replace the pump if you can afford it.

i would be REPLACING the oil pump, SHIMMING the new pump, PLASTIGAUGING all the rods/main, replacing the bypass valve aswell.

I don't know why guys are reluctant to shim the oil pump, another 10 psi will help, not hurt the engine.
15 psi at idle is too low. 30 psi running down the road, too low.
80 psi cold, something's wrong. Sending unit may be on the way out. May want to get a mechanical gauge teed on it to check.

I get a warm and fuzzy feeling looking a 45 psi knowing everything is alright under the lid.
That ain't oil son, it's blood. Yours if it isn't right.

How many dimes did you use?
