Error 5081 - Kolczyk - 12-12-2024

Hi. I have this message on Insite " Insite has detected some ECM have an invalid Footprint and must be recalibrated." Can somebody tell me how to do it?

RE: Error 5081 - tree98 - 12-13-2024

Try flashing the ECM. You'll need the cummins insite or c a l t e r m software and an inline adapter. What engine are we working on here?

RE: Error 5081 - Kolczyk - 12-13-2024

When I try recalibration Insite said is not connected. This is ISX CM870. I have Insite 9.0.0 and Nexiq adapter. ECM is not from this engine, I bought it on line.

RE: Error 5081 - tree98 - 12-13-2024

Insite 7.6.2 is going to work much better on an 870. If you got that ECM somewhere online then all bets are off!! Who knows what you got. Might be one that someone bricked and is stuck in boot mode, who knows??

RE: Error 5081 - Kolczyk - 12-13-2024

Engine is running ok. I like to check parameter setup, but can't.

Try 7.6.2 maybe you'll have better luck.

Probably a corrupt file in the ecm.

re-flash the ecm with the latest factory file according to the ser# on the engine.

and ... If you got the ecm form somewhere besides a certified OEM stealers$it then you did nothing but wasted your moneys.

What you did was jumped over a dollar to save 10 cents.

You should have purchased an OEM certified ecm from the vehicle stealers$it and also had them pre-flash it with the correct software + all the correct truck settings for your VIN#, etc. - This guarantees that you have a good ecm and proper programming. OEM certified ecms have brand new circuit board in them as well, instead of some ancient trash that is worn out/flaky, etc... this even if it is a reman unit.

sounds a bit harsh, but for a $2,000+ item and big towing bills when it leaves you on the side of the road, maybe is flaky, etc... and when it fails prematurely again (because repaired units always do) = wasted time and moneys. I.E.> You don't take no chances, to avoid all the headaches that cost more than if you got a certified one to begin with.
