What can cause brass shavings in the oil pan? (mains and rods excluded)

bearings in the head... or wrist pin bushings.

Are wrist pins made of brass?
yes, the bushings are, and if they wear too much, it will send a piston thru the block without warning.

yes, the bushings are, and if they wear too much, it will send a piston thru the block without warning.
What symptoms will the engine have in this case? Currently has no issues

wrist pin failures give zero warning.
