| Flash old ecm to new ECM Its been awhile since I've needed any help. But, today I had my truck break down 3 hrs away from home. 2010 Kenworth T660 CM871 with a mommaburt tune demandate done years ago. Fan circuit code isn't letting the truck start. Unplug the fan solenoid and code goes away. But the truck won't start. Crank no start. Put a jumper wire in the plug and the code comes back. I suspected the ECM so i tapped on it and nothing makes this clear up. I have sourced an ECM 3 hrs away and Kenworth is going to put a basic flash in it. But my truck is demandated. Mommaburt and I worked quite a bit to get the proper everything for this truck right. I have all the programs to pull anything off the old ECM (it still communicates just fine) (caltherm and Insite) i pulled the mommaburt file from the ECM. I am lost after that. The new ECM wont be down to me to put on the truck until probably close to 5-7pm EST today. If there are any kind souls on here that can help me it would be greatly appreciated. | |||

| RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM A fan circuit code wouldn't keep the truck from starting. If you end up buying an ECM make sure they pre flash it with the stock file at the dealer before you put your hands on it. | |||

RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM (Yesterday )tree98 Wrote: A fan circuit code wouldn't keep the truck from starting. So what happened was i arrived at the receiver with zero problems. Shut the truck off, unload, go to start, nothing when i hit the key. I end up tapping the ecm. Still nothing. I find a wire corroded at the starter pull the wires off splice and repair the wire. Put all wires back on. Truck no cranks again. But no start and i have this new 0245 code (fan control circuit - voltage below normal or shorted to low source) amber active. I am no a crank no start with a fan code that showed up out of no where. Absolutely zero problems until i tapped on the ecm (its factory 2010 ecm) I have no other codes. Lift pump buzzes. ECM communicates with caltherm and Insite 100%. My best guess at this point is i jarred the ECM internally. But im open to other suggestions. | |||

| RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM I also am still in dire need to get the new ECM that i purchased flashed with my mommaburt cal. So if anyone has help here it would definitely be appreciated. I am too many years rusty and since i was on here and understood how to get this done myself. Plus im on the road in a towing companies parking lot. Away from most resources but the basics i carry in the truck | |||

| RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM Well, quick update. Mommaburt is out of the game but he came through and hooked me up with a guy he trusts for programing. I will be getting the new ECM in a few hrs and hopefully getting it programmed to know it was either the problem or it wasnt and its eliminated as a possibility. Im not worried about throwing an ECM at this truck just because its 16 years old and needs replaced any way. Further in to what else I've looked at. All wires that were originally on the starter did get put back on. Key on, everything clicks and does checks just as it should. Lift pump buzzes the full 2 minutes and shuts off. There is an inactive VGT code 2198 (1 count) after i had already deleted the inactive codes during this debacle today. I personally dont suspect this code to be a part of the problem. But i mention it for the full picture. I have tested with a voltage tester all fuses in the fuse panel at my feet. They are all ok. Is there another fuse somewhere on this truck for the ECM? I dont know. I know my old 06 international 9400i had some at the batteries but i dont see any on this truck Keep in mind this thing ran flawlessly untill i shut it off at which time the starter wire obviously corrodid broke in transit. So i dont suspect any fuel issues. Can this be something stupid? Absolutely. | |||

| RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM if the electric fuel pump is running flawlessly on key-on, then its not likely the ECM.. but one never knows. Check the fuel pressure while cranking. If it is down around 50 psi or less, it will not even try to fire the injectors. more info: https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?...8#pid85128 and... Rawze Wrote:As far as the no-start... | RE: Flash old ecm to new ECM Thank you Rawze. It ended up i put the ECM on and mommaburts guy made a carbon copy of the old ECM. It fired right off. So the tap to ECM at the start of this day was the final shock that one was gonna take. I was on borrowed time with it any way. A curious note from Grok ai, it picked up instantly on the on the combined codes i mentioned and the crank no start issue and said ECM was a likely culprit and they are known to fail with this combination of codes with this exact result. It appears Grok is scrapping this site. If so, its in the right place to help people. | |||
