That’s the problem that it doesn’t passively regen, I get the code 3464 fmi 16 while rolling which is intake manifold too high (overboost detected while regeneration) so I’m guessing the passive regen fails and then makes me pull over and do a parked regen. Any idea what can cause intake manifold pressure too high?

If the system is in good working order it will be passively regen'ing and you wouldn't even know it unless you happen to see the hi exhaust temp light on. What I have read into your thread here so far... If it is at the point where you have to do parked regens then the system is beyond dire straights. The regen system does not, and will not "heal".. or get "better", a clogged up DPF once it is bad enough to make you pull over. The cans all need to be removed, and taken to a stealers$it and be baked, de-ashed, and then flow tested.. then a "Maintenence Reset" + "DPF Replecement" procedures need to be done in Insite to reset it. Otherwise it will keep assuming they are clogged.. even if they are not ... as the ECM's internal "soot counter" .. that by the way .. ONLY COUNTS UP AND NOT DOWN ... will not reset unless you do all of this. You also need to do a complete EGR tune-up and stop the soot problem to begin with. That DPF does not the make soot.. THE ENGINE DOES, so you need to solve all of the engine issues as well. Otherwise you will be right back in the same situation in a month or 2 like all the rest of the fools who think they can just ignore the engine's EGR system. The fact is that 100% of the DPF problems ARE ALWAYS CAUSED BY AND COME FROM THE ENGINE!. and the fact that its egr system internally gets completely carboned over.. + all the sensors. Igonring all the real underlying issues is what in fact that causes it all. soooo.. unless you fix that engine problem and its faults .. you are p[iss$iing up wind. Intake manifold pressure too high errors are most likely a carboned over EGR system,.. flow is restricted, and the engine is demanding EGR from the exhaust so it spools up the turbo hard because it cannot get the proper amounts. Overs-pooling the turbo is a symptom of the EGR system trying to force more flow. here is one example... ref: http://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?t...8#pid22458 CLEAN OUT THE EGR SYSTEM!... Replace the delta-p sensor, clean its base.. Replace the egr temp and egr pressure sensors.. And if that engine has more than 600k miles on it (or equiv run hours) .. Remove and clean out the carboned-over egr cooler as well. That is the solution.. + having the cans baked and the system reset. Welcome to modern trucking.. where if the truck owner does not fix on it themselves.. then it will be nothing but a repeating emissions system nightmere.. because no repair shop, stealers$it, or OEM facility is going to do any of that .. nor any one else. RE: 4364 Fmi 18/ Poor Def Before I do egr clean, I went to DPF specialist he ran a regen and keeps saying the numbers seem correct and that I don’t need a egr clean up, but what caught my attention was the high doc inlet pressure on my truck as the regen started it was at 1.595! I don’t know if it went down or not at the end of the regen but assuming it didn’t go down, plugged doc could be causing intake manifold pressure too high? As well as nox conversion low? And poor def quality? I insisted maybe I need doc face plug cleaning again the dpf professional said, I didn’t see anything wrong and he doesn’t believe I need doc cleaning. If I do doc face plug cleaning is there a risk to that? Could this be the solution to temporary fix? He said egr numbers were good so I don’t know if I should clean egr first or do face plug cleaning

RE: 4364 Fmi 18/ Poor Def It not passing a regen driving but will pass a stationary is 1 of the signs that the scr is or could be going bad PM me tomorrow I can remote in and watch the data with you and give you my opinion IMAP to high could be a bad sensor Poor DEF quality is because outlet nox is to low

RE: 4364 Fmi 18/ Poor Def (06-24-2024 )lesvraissavent Wrote: ... most common cause is clogged egr piping (or egr cooler), poorly reading egr/engine sensors, and then turbo is being commanded to higher than normal positions/over-spooling. Bad connections, leaky CAC or exhaust systems.. you name it .. the engine is going to react to it. it can also be that some moron installed the wrong program for the engine (in attempts to up the HP). Does the program in the ecm match exactly, what the engine ser# calls for on cummins wwwsite?. read my post above and do ALL of the things recommended 100% and don't give it any excuse to act up.
