Also lugging aside I spoke to said shop and they agreed over speed and lugging would not cause the cracked head which I did neither of. then you need to run a gear down, .. or invest in re-grar the rear ends so that it runs the right speeds down the roadways. trucks geared too tall can't get out of their own way when loaded heavy, and feel sluggish all the time.
