Tune review
This one is for rawze, I was the one talking about a cracked head. I had {another forum member} pull my file and replace it, the shop told me there was nothing wrong with the tune that it was fine and it’s in my head the way it ran, well I would like your opinion if you could or anybody that wants to chime in. I think it was sent to benjy88 already. Nate is suppose to be sending it to you.

I was sent a CM870 program by that person. I can only assume that is the file you are referring to.

Here is what I see at a glance...

== Engine mode control is not done properly. It will not stay in a non-EGR operating mode. This is not good for the engine long tern, and will lead to eventual harm.

== Some of the Aux. emissions has been set improperly. This will mess with boost, power, torque, etc.

= idle region turbo positioning has been significantly lowered. This is ok, however, someone need to ensure it is not too low, and ensure that the turbo is still spinning fast enough to make positive pressure at idle. This is to prevent turbo slobber.

== The turbo positioning has been raised in the engines non-egr operating mode, but no other mode. Somoene needs to ensure that the mode4 settings do not allow the turbo to exceed 37 psi (38 absolute max) boost or so in a hard pull. Also, the engine is not likely to stay in non-egr operating modes all the time, as there is improper mode control. This can lead to over/under boosting, and other issues.

== The injection timng has been set EXTREMELY HARMFUL in several different engine operating modes, including the non-egr mode as well. It has been set to absolutely redicoulous values, as much as 14+ BTDC in some ares of the mappings. Not even an old 2-stroke enigne would survive these crazy settings,,.. nonetheless a modern IXS that cannot handle more than about 5 BTDC or so at those same areas.

- Exceeding high injection timing in an ISX will definately destroy the engine after a while.
Failures like (take your pick) ... dropped liners, Valve seats eaten away, cracked cylinder head, cracked piston, piston thru the block, etc.etc.

== coolant temp sensing has been mostly disabled. If the engine overheats, the CEL might not come on, and driver might not even know it. This can lead to complete engine destruction without warning if the engine overheats and the driver does not take action.

== Someone has screwed with the crank/cam position sensing settings in a bad way. The engine will not even know what the injection tinning is properly any more, and the settings advance the injection timing against the ECM's will even further. - This is EXTREMELY HARMFUL to the engine over time!!!.

== someone also altered the fuel quantities going into the cylinders against the ECM's will. This is a NO-NO, causing the ecm to fight against it, it will throw off cylinder balancing because the ecm will assume the injectors are leaking, the fuel mileage in the dash will read higher than actual, fooling the driver, and a lot of other downstream issues happen as a result, all harmful to the engine, contributing towards progressive damage.

== The air-fuel mix table has been completely destroyed. It looks like a 5-year old idiot made it. This is also harmful, and will cause surging, and black smoke issues.

Welcome to the bad delete club. This one is an engine killer for sure.

Thank you for the thorough review Rawze. A lot of what you stated I told the shop that uses this "tuner" for their work and swears up and down they're "good", but with much more detail.

It's on them now and they've been informed, so

Some people like to live in the dark all the time. It would not surprise me in the least if the person who made this program denies all these issues,.. and/or even the repair shop that was involved ...

My own experience towards trying to help other 'tuning people/shops' is that most of them would rather spit in your face and curse you out due to arrogant, narcissistic behavior, rather than to accept that what they do can be greatly improved with just a little bit of proper education and collaboration. - Collaboration that has always been offered COMPLETELY FREE by the way, so there is literally is no excuse for it.

The sad part is that when I do a review, Wat I say about these types of engine programming issues is fact and not opinions. Even the outcomes are predictable, after seeing the aftermath hundreds of times over, year after year. I do not make s$it up or embellish when it comes to harmful programming issues. The issues are clear as day, and I am more than willing to show someone line for line what is in there, and how it got changed, so that they can see these things for themselves.
