Help 870 computer help
I’m Brandon from Arkansas. 870 Got a brand new overhaul
And a Detroit style turbo put on replacing the vgt (turbo was out so this was the cheaper option) egr delete and hardware removed. Will not build but 24 lbs boost. If you masked the gas it would cut out but you feather it with no problems. It’s just not right. Need some good help. I’ve pm running rough. These guys around here have been hooked up to it 7 times now and I’m still having issues. Any help or call would be appreciated. {pm for personal/contact info}
It’s a 2007 Pete 386

RE: Help 870 computer help
It will never be right with that garbage turbo on it. Put all the proper components back on it and then come here for help. Nobody can help you with it all screwed up like it is now.

You saved 2 or 3 grand on that turbo just to cost yourself 10k -20k maybe 30k in the longer run. All you end up with is an engine with no Jake brake that will live maybe half of its potential life if your lucky.

Makes me wonder about the quality of the recent inframe to but that's a whole other conversation.

RE: Help 870 computer help
I’m not in position to spend more money on swapping turbos. Unfortunately I need it to operate like this. As far as Jake brakes I don’t ever use them on my trucks. I do local work. Need info on how make all this work.

RE: Help 870 computer help
Sounds like may want to check cam timing. If you have the cpl we can see what the timing should have been. I know if the file is one for a 6/6 and you set it to 4/6 it will effect the timing on fueling and case it to cut up on hard acceleration.

RE: Help 870 computer help
8519 that's a 4/6....... sure buy the wedges and check it.

You can't just bolt a turbo on thats designed for an entirely different engine and expect it to work properly and produce proper boost. You need to beg borrow or steal the money it's going to take to put the correct VGT back on. Anything short of that and it's not going to be right no matter what anyone does with your programming.

Then your not in a position to repair the engine properly. Boprrow, do whjatever it takes to get it back right.. Park it and go be a company driver for a while if need be. This, so that you can get it back right.

Your on the wrong forum if you want help with butchering it into oblivion with those kinds of half-arssed, engine killing, redneck-garbage-can mods. We don't allow people support others who abuse their equipment around here... then wonder why its always got costly issues.
