RE: calibration vs configuration files
Ecfg is a file that is basically a "key" that allows c a l t e r m to access the specific engine file it was made for.

Cal file is the calibration file or engine file for the ECM that the engine actually runs on. There are 2 types INCAL....these are the same calibration files mentioned already but in a format that insite requires to flash them into the ECM.

The other is XCAL.... these are the same file again but formatted for c a l t e r m.

You can copy the entire file out with c a l t e r m and save it to your pc(as an .xcal) and edit it however you like and then flash it back in. It's what that software was designed for, its engineering software that was never meant for consumers to get there hands on.

Rawze usually directs people to his mumble server where you can get more indepth about this stuff and he can explain anything you want to know.

RE: calibration vs configuration files
Open calibration> select ecfg>edit

You need to get with Rawze on mumble, there is a LOT to learn before you go poking around in a cal file.

^^^^ECFG files are road map files that are USED BY THE CALTERM SOFTWARE ITSELF,.. AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ENGINE!. They are plug-in 'road-map' files for CALTERM, and nothing more.

== Just like a GPS needing an up to date 'ROAD-MAP' showing in the background, to show you where you are at in the world.

== ECFG files are a MAP used by the CALTERM softwre, so that you can SEE WHERE YOU ARE inside contents of an engine file.

^^^^cal files, known as 'Calibration files', is a slang reference for 'INCAL files' and/or 'XCAL files'. They are the THE ENGINE SOFTWARE ITSELF!. - IT IS THE SOFTWARE THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS FOR IT TO OPERATE AND RUN!.

== INCAL files refers to the factory-origional engine files (the engine software itself) that are availiable on the red engine makers wwwsite.

== XCAL files are nothing but INCAL files that have been un-compressed, so that they can be viewed and edited.
