Diesel fares better over the same time period.

My IH bus DT466 sat for 5 FIVE! years. Full bottle of PS Silver in 20 gallons of fresh fuel, new batteries and a few huffs of ether and it fired right up.

Yeah I have got 20 yr old NTC 350 and N14 engines that will start after a year of standing.......the fuel system tolerances are so fine on the new engines.......However Big Red have got their asses covered ...see the "short Term Storage Procedures. REALLY 30 DAYS!!!!

Forgive me if I'm wrong on this but isn't the injectors and pumps lubricated by the fuel? Seems to be you would be putting excessive wear on those components by running them dry then trying to reprime the system will put a lot of stress on the starter. Just my thoughts on it.
