Hot / Cold Blend door
2010 Pete 387
Hot cold blend door nub that goes in the actuator is broken off and I need to swap the doors out. And change the actuator too, but thats the easy part.
I'm wanting to know if there is anything I need to watch out for sliding the heater box out to get to the opening for the door. I know I need to support the box sliding it out but are there any lines or wires and that I'm going to break in the process or does it have enough give to slide out?
Any other tricks or tips would be appreciated too.
Thanks

There shouldn't be anything that gets in your way, the box is pretty much plug and play under the hood and under the dash. All lines and connections are external.

It was a super "butcher" fix, but I had a black plastic HVAC part brake. I tried glueing it and it would just break. I ended up using a torch, yes fire!, and melted a screw right into it. Hasn't broken since! The black plastic melted and surrounded the screw, once cooled it was one solid piece again, metal re-enforced.

RE: Hot / Cold Blend door
just an FYI: - the blend door motors on my 2011 prostar are the same as a "1999 jeep grand cherokee blend door actuator". you can get em at any autoparts store for about half the price of one at the stealershit.

When they went bad the first time ...
I repaired mine (replaced the plastic gear that goes bad) using my 3D printer.

but over time, the blend other doors got more hanging up (due to warping blend doors themselves),.. and started hanging up more.. but i still blamed it on the blend motors, so I found replacements on amazon next time: - here is one from amazon: https://amzn.to/2Lu67NW

but after a million+ miles and fighting it, as it was still hanging up .. .. I finally said screw those blend door motors and their problems.. and resorted to using lawn-mower throttle cables and a home made adapter plate where the motors used to mount. I went old-school on them like cars from the 1970's. - They have worked flawlessly ever since, though it does not look so pretty in my dash...

Hadn't thought about this item, but other times I have discovered that to be true. I shop around as much as I can.
