Oil t-stat operation I'm just sitting here thinking, when exactly does the oil t-stat start to open? Is it just like a coolant t-star that is closed till 180? I'm just curious as my oil t-stat is a 235 degree one and was thinking if it starts to open at 235 it has an awfully narrow window till the shutdown alarm goes off.

RE: Oil t-stat operation I would assume it works the same as coolant. It starts to open before the rated temp, but is/should fully open by rated temp. My 180 engine stat cracks about 150-155. User's Signature: Why? Why do I always ask "why?" Because I can't learn or help teach others with "'cause I said so..."

RE: Oil t-stat operation I had Uniliever make my engine fan come on at 200. I really like it that way. My oil runs a lot cooler. I don't have a fan override switch but with the fan coming on like you would think it should at 200 I don't see the point of putting one on unless you don't want it cycling for the ac when sleeping with truck running or something similar to that.
