Cm2250 egr cooler leak

Need help please,
There was bad exhaust leak in the engine bay last week, made it in town yesterday and my mecanic just caled me and said egr cooler is leaking exhaust fumes, the whole side of the block turned black.

Freigtliner gaved me part # 4352360nx around $1500 with exchange
Any where I can find cheaper and fast, or are they repairable if its leaking fumes only and no water?

There is the alternative-

For roughly about 2400 or so last i heard you can get a mandate removal and have a block-plate installed over at Mr. Hags I think. I think rawze or uni knows more

Otherwise, I would simply replace it and be done with it. Welding it may make the rest go bad in shortly after.

Are you sure it is not simply a gasket or clamp leak?
