2010 VOLVO W/ISX450
Hey guys. Haven't been here in a while, so I thought I would check in. It's been a few years since I did a complete Rawze type EGR TUNE UP on this engine. I spared no expense, REPLACING, (not just cleaning), all sensors related to the emission system. Replaced DPF, EGR valve, and 7th injector. Removed all piping related to emission system and cleaned. Since then I have not had ONE SINGLE check engine light come on. For my operation, fuel mileage is great. I add a gallon of oil around 8000 miles, and change it between 10-11 thousand miles. At 768,000 miles, is there anything I should be doing to be proactive? I hear people talk about running the overhead once a year, but this motor seems to be doing just fine. Motor is completely stock.

RE: 2010 VOLVO W/ISX450
yes, it is due for a rod and main bearing set.

Overhead valve adjustments should be done every 250k miles. If it has been that long or longer, it is well due for that too.

Crank shaft damper is well due to be replaced as well to prevent excess vibration, wiring and ecm problems, etc. too

the list is actually long for things that should be done for both the engine and the truck overall as it reaches 800k miles.

I did replace the damper, radiator, all hoses, belts, and tensioner. Wow, I didn't realize rods and mains needed replacing on these new engines unless you were burning oil. That's the kind of stuff I was looking for, Thanks. Do you have a mid-high mileage to do list like you made for the EGR TUNE UP?

Duh, Got it! I will be reading this, Thanks for all this info Rawze, and your members. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I didn't find you. Would I have been another failure, and just blamed it on cummins, like so many do. What a great engine if you are educated on how to care for them.

The red engine is no better than any of the others out there, except for one single advantage...

You can work on it yourself quite easily compared to others, and mold it (proper custom programming, etc) into something that will work for you to suit your needs.

Otherwise, especially if they are ignored, they are a red cry-baby prone to nothing but problems and will put someone in the poor house just like all the other brands of engines out there these days.
