ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue I maintain a fleet of fire trucks that are exempt but ordered with the epa crap on them. Most have been demandated by the only person I use to do any tunes, one of our members. Now to the issue at hand. I have a demandated truck that has a failed egr cooler and I'm looking for information if anybody knows who makes the custom egr exhaust block off plates. To be more exact, the exhaust coming into the egr and going out. I have the fire truck down right now for a head gasket issue, non related, and want it fixed right. I found one company that offers them for the CM2150 but unsure if they work on the CM2350 models. I usually deal with the ISX and X15's but have been having to deal with the ISL, ISC, and ISB more lately and my usual sources dont make what I need. Thanks in advance for all the help.

RE: ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue - On most red engines, the coolant flow needs to be maintained between the back of the water pump and the engine back (normally runs thru the egr cooler). Otherwise, the exhaust flow itself should have been block-plated (between the exhaust manifold and the egr cooler) when the de-mandate was done. RE: ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue Why not just take the EGR cooler off and weld both ends shut then put it back on?

RE: ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue On the ISL and ISB the egr cooler only circulates from the block back to the inlet of the water pump so there is no problem just putting plugs in the block at both ends.

RE: ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue The exhaust isn't the issue. The truck, a fire apparatus, is demandated and the egr cooler has failed. The city wants to keep it on there for appearances but bypass the coolant section of it since the egr isn't actually working. I didnt know if they made a pipe for to bypass the egr cooler on the coolant side like the isx and x15's. The exhaust side is closed off at both ends like it should be.

RE: ISL9 CM2350 EGR issue If the egr cooler exhaust gas sides are welded shut then where is the problem? It will flood the cooler part and that is it. There should be no problem unless it is leaking outside.
