| Fuel system lubrication I've read a lot about adding gear oil to your crankcase for added protection. At first it sounded a bit odd. But after doing some research and thought about it. It makes alot of sense. But you don't see much information on fuel system lubrication. The sulfur that was taken out of the fuel primary job was lubrication. I know you can add transmission fluid to ... {rest of statement removed by Rawze: bad info}. ... But it also turns your fuel red. Which is a red flag for inspection. Has anyone come up with a good fuel additive for fuel system lubrication. | |||

BAD INFO THERE!!!. - Stop reading garbage off social madai. {from another thread/article)... ATF (Automatic Transmission fluid), otherwise knows as 'Dextron' is actually NOT a very good product to run in your fuel tanks. Although it sometimes helps to soften old seals in the fuel system, they can become too soft over time, deteriorate, and fail. Dextron ATF can help a bit with lubricating the fuel pump and fuel system components, BUT AT A HEAVY COST to overall engine life. - Once it enters the cylinders, the whole ball game changes. When burned in the combustion chamber, it produces high amounts of ethylene, small amounts of ash residue, and abrasive crystallization occurs, threatening long term piston and cylinder wall lifespan. That certainly is NOT good for your pistons and liners when used regularly... I.E.> BAD!. You save a bit of wear in the fuel system at the direct cost of cylinder filespan. | RE: Fuel system lubrication The transmission fluid was something w did years ago. Haven't done it to any of the newer engines. I've never used any Lucas products either. If I thought I needed to add anything. It was always PowerService in the gray bottle. Are the operating tolerances on the injectors and fuel pumps tighter now than they were on the older systems? | |||
