Cm871 rebuild
Hello all,

I'm currently in the process of inframing my demandated 2010 cm871.i have couple of concerns and would like y'all's opinion.

1. The guy I'm hiring to cut my counterbores it's not willing to guarantee his work if liners are left above 12 thou.Per this forum's advice I was asking him to leave them at 14thou.Is this common for people to refuse to honor their work even if to their benefit?
2.the tube that goes from the egr valve to the intake has a block of plate where it bolts to the intake.is this the proper way to have it?if not what is .The tube was completely caked up with soot .

I've owned the truck for 3 + years and more that 500,000 miles.Oil consumption increased along with blow by and I decided to inframe it .I've never messed with anything tuning related since I've owned.Besides the increase in oil composition and a broken exhaust rocker arm jam nut about 60000 miles , it has been trouble free engine.

Thank y'all in advance
Roger

RE: Cm871 rebuild
- Tell the person to cut it so that all liners are at 0.015"... accurately to within 0.001" for all, and 0.001" or less error from 1 - 6 final heights between all. - Tell him that its not his job to warranty your engine anyways. - Make him verify the heights for all liners measuring all depths .. then again with 100 ft.lbs torque on each liner to verify heights with you before he leaves, ... take pics of all heights and measurements.. and everyone is happy. - His part is done.

(assuming you live in a foreign country)...
== As far as block plates go..one at the intake where the venturi meets the intake manifold.. and another one between exhaust manifold @ cylinder #1 and inlet of the the egr cooler.

== ALL cans under truck hollow 100% to the bare metal.

== Crank case filter replaces with maintenance-free version (the one with 2" hole thru it and no element).

PULL the ecm file and e-mail it to me for a review of what someone did in there. More than 90%+ of all delete programming is BAD... HARMFUL KIND OF BAD!!!... make sure its not eating the guts out of the engine slowly over time.

RE: Cm871 rebuild
I just checked today, there was no block off plate between exhaust manifold and EGR cooler.
Cans under the truck have been removed and it is straight pipe
The filter is new, but per this forums recommendations, it had been drilled with a half inch hole at the top. I currently have no way of making a copy of program, but will work on that.
I checked liner protrusion on the old liners, with the liner push tool to torques down. All were north of 10 thou , but before 11thou.

Thank you for the recommendation.

Roger

if you put that thing back together without counter-boring it and raising liners, then in less than 300k miles,.. you will be doing it all over again.
