| RE: Future of trucking I have a buddy who works for the fire dept. He tells me about the training they receive on these types of fires, and this guy in the video is spot on with saying... You're not going to put the fire out, you just have to manage what's already happening. Apparently they don't have the ability to stop certain chemical fires from these packs. That's nuts to push so hard on a technology even though we aren't advanced enough to stop the potential runaway combustion. Imagine if the battery pack in the video fell off in any other scenario where it wasn't isolated... | |||

Maybe not the technical stuff you stated but there is a mines in Texas close to Mexico where there is nothing but automated trucks with no one inside pulling material. One crashed on the off road couples months ago. These aren’t electric though.

| RE: Future of trucking Amazon on the other hand warehouses are being covered by robots more and more. They have this machine that hooks to kingpin of trailers with some one controlling it. It’s cheaper than having a truck moving it but definitely slower. | |||

| RE: Future of trucking Those trucks don't have hour restrictions (no driver to sleep) and only have to stop for recharging and can otherwise run 7 days a week including holidays. The math on that works out in the carriers favor real quick once you subtract employee expenses. If they used the truck until the battery was junk and just threw it away, they would likely still come out far ahead. | |||

| RE: Future of trucking If there are more and more automated trucks in the future, wouldn't brokers or shippers buy their own automated truck and bypass the carriers completely? | |||

Makes sense, well then again there is high percentage of overseas brokers operating here. Imagine running an automated truck from Eastern Europe or India. Would be a shi#t show.Lol They say in the coming few decades a lot of jobs are gonna be gone and taken by automation, sometimes I wonder if the government is going to step in and say that’s enough or will they just play along. Reports says job shortage is a thing now but don’t know how true that is, sameway they’re saying truck drivers are short.

What actually happens instead is that jobs get transformed around the new technology, and not actually lost. (the beer talkin')... I.E.> The world said that the horse would become extinct with the invention of the model-t ford and the tractor too... Last I checked that did not happen, and all the horse manure collectors in the cities became car mechanics and gas station attendants ... lol. Here is what people should really be concerned with... At some point, there will be no history except the pushed narrative, and no trace of what was once the truth, etc. User's Signature: ->: What I post is just my own thoughts and Opinions! --- I AM Full Of S__T!.
