On engine plate
CPL 2733
ESN 79355448
I don't know the original AV#

INFO showing on ECM
ESN same
CPL 2965
AV10096.24

Is it possible to just go back to the original AV# for my ESN and CPL?

Engine ser# 79355448 shows original program AV10051.

Program AV10096 is NOT compatible with program AV10051.

AV10096 id an EGR-only program, wheras the AV10051 is for EGR + DPF... but this is not the difference. There are bigger issues at stake...

* The CAC and other vehicle settings are not compotabile. This leads to engine fuel and other inefficiencies.

* If the egr itself is blocked of, then the injection timing is too high, and is ma=oderately harmful to the engine... pushing it into the danger zone for a a possible cracked piston or dropped liner.

* The AV10096 program expects no crank case filter.. This is not an issue if the truck onwer uses a maint.free crank case filter, or if it has been bypassed in some way.. otherwise, this sets the engine up for overheaed cam failures or turbo bleeding into the CAC if the CC filter ever does get clogged up.

* The AV10096 program is designed for different compression a=ratio engine as well. Again Efficiency losses will occur.

* The AV10096 program is designed for a different model turbocharger as well. Again, the turbo will not operate as efficiently as needed, will do strange thngs at times, and cause enigne efficiency losses as well as a shortened turbo lifespan.

-===========

It looks to me like some clueless wannabe used a Mexico or other countries program to make a half-arssed delete program for your engine. -= This is not correct and is far from optimal.

The correct thing to do it put the program that belongs in that engine and truck.. matches 100% .. and then fix the program to match whatever (de-mandate) that might have been done.

-== Welcome to the bad delete club.

RE: Increasing HorsePower -- What You Need To Know
I'm getting a av10248 tune right now to head in the right direction although my engine is on the way out. Short version is a know it all shop close to home blocked off my egr with the 10096 tune and said it was running shitty because my EGR valve was open. Since he did that I drove about 3500 miles like that but didn't like how my truck was performing the turbo was struggling and the engine was getting really noisy from all angles. I took the plate off then truck was driving better but now the noise from the engine still there. Sounds like a bad rod knock.
Just finished getting retuned and truck drives great but bottom end still noisy as hell!

How can I see what this motor can put out. I don't need to max out the hp but if I can at least get 450-475 hp I'd be happy. Currently is set at 425hp 1650t
EF10028.21 is on the ecm

What are the gears in the rear end?

here are the specs...

- About 475HP and about 1720 trq is about as high as one should ever be set for. It takes a custom program to do that. Of course, the emissions systems will get worked harder than they should too. This means that it would likely have to be de-mandated for it to get there.

Thanks I have came across that spec sheet before. Cummins would only increase it to 425 I figured they could go higher but I guess not. The truck came factory with 4.33s I'm assuming because of the lower hp. I'll just leave it at 425hp till she gives up. Has 600k miles now. I plan to just replace it with a 15L so hate to blow a bunch of money on special tuning. I would rather leave the emissions long as I can as well I have had 0 problems with it the last 100k miles..
Thanks again.

RE: Increasing HorsePower -- What You Need To Know
Trying to get a little better understanding of these calibrations i bought a newer truck with an x15 565hp/1850tq in it sn 80014016 and the calibration code id HD10196.04. when i was looking on insite it says this calibration under performance options is RV USE ONLY. can you explain why it would say that in a linehaul truck? thanks in advance. i was also wondering what cal was compatible for the 605/2050.
