RE: Cam help
I did find some wear on the valve shaft as well if you zoom in on it you can see it I believe it’s cylinder 5. I’m guessing cam is toast then and I should just inframe it now?

RE: Cam help
Thanks
Just left dealer and asked them to put together a price list of what I need
Sure would be nice if Cummins has kits like cat!

Besides the normal parts anything else I should replace while it’s tore down? Figured I’d do water pump it’s original just did oil pump. Turbo was replaced already too.

RE: Cam help
Thanks good thread rawze. Truck is sitting till it gets overhauled in a few weeks. Guy has to finish up another one before he can start mine. While your videos are extremely helpful I don't think I'll tackle it by myself just yet! Plus I'm getting swamped with work and can run the old truck to make money to pay for new one!
Thanks for all the info it's made finding the right guy for the job much easier.

For piece of mind I'm going to replace everything on the top end. That way I know it's been properly taken care of. When I was at parts dealer they didn't have any new heads available but from what I've read some heads say the are recon. But are stamped with new part numbers is this correct?
I went to school with parts guy so he would probably check the heads for me.

Since I have a few weeks before we start it I can afford to look around for a new one. If someone can point me in the direction of new heads that'd be great!!
Thanks for the help
