RE: 2350 tuning
at 1850 torque, someone can only expect the engine to live about 650,000 miles at best. MOST 2350's in that torque range do not live longer that this.

It is the torque that shortens engine life of these things. The Horsepower, not so much.

It is also the way that the ISX is tortured by the driver that shortens their life as well. Seems all the truck makers want to push truck specs that torture the engine to death, maybe to sell more trucks?-- engines? -- who knows but it is not good at all.

IT IS THE ADDED LOW-END TORQUE AND THE BULLS#IT higher than normal gearing these newer trucks seem to be improperly spec'd with these days that kills the engine longevity.

You never mentioned the rear ratio of the vehicle that I saw ...-- as a WELL SPEC'D REAR RATIO will far out perform ANY KIND OF ENGINE POWER MODIFICATIONS, hands down.

Horsepower is not the killer (given anything reasonable) -- IT is TORQUE, and those people who think they can pull a hill with their truck with the pedal 3/4 or more down, and torturing their engine because they chose the wrong gearing, or are too lazy to shift, it turning below 1400, torturing it at 1300, OR GOD FORBID, 1200 OR LESS RPM! -- That is the second problem as to why these newer engines do not live nearly as long as they used to.

-- DON'T BECOME ONE OF THEM!...
It seems that 70% of the people want more power BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DOWN-SHIFT PROPERLY, or re-spec their equipment properly, and think that adjusting on the most expensive component in the vehicle (the engine itself) is going to somehow cure it - If what someone is doing actually requires more power, then RE-SPEC THE REARS FIRST!. It is a far cheaper investment than screwing with the very thing that will cost the most in profit margin loss to adjust on (that engine), even if it was done properly.

That dump truck should have minimum, 3.90's in it, maybe 4.11's in it? Maybe 4.36's (hopefully) or maybe even better. If it is not spec'd right,.. (anything taller 4.08's or so ), that would be someones first investment, and NOT trying to screw with the engine torque.

THE ISX will last its longest when pulling hard AT 1600-1800 RPM RANGE,.. and thus the truck should be SPEC'D with its rear ratio accordingly if someone is going to need more 'UMMPH' out of their equipment. Of course, this also assumes that they are dumb enough to want it above the fuel that more 'ummph' consumes, hurting their overall profit margin, because MORE UMMPH COMES FROM FUEL AND INCREASED WEAR ON THE EQUIPMENT. Such are the laws of nature.

-- All that being said, you asked if turning the Horsepower up would shorten its life... well, from 500 to 550, not really. - As long as the max torque is not adjusted.

Personally, I would turn the torque DOWN to 1750, and the HP UP to 575 or so, (a proper de-0mandate, spec'd to protect the engine at constant high loads, if you live and operate where that is possible) and put a better spec'd set of rears in it (4.36's if it does not have them because its a local operation / dump truck) if it does not already have them. 1750 torque would give it another 100k miles possibly to its overall engine life vs. 1850, and that is a wise investment vs leaving it where it is at and asking even more form it like it is.

just my own thoughts on it any ways.
