Allison transmissions So does anyone know about the Allison transmissions. I just bought a zero rust 1980 Chevy 3+3 dually. It was a rescue utility vehicle built by Pierce. It is still completely intact minus the motor and transmission. It came with a 454 and turbo 400 but we are going to put a 1994 12 valve Cummins and Allison transmission in it. Just not sure on the Allison, was thinking a MT643, any thoughts or ideas? I'm going to use it as a service vehicle for the big truck. I can keep a lot of my tools in it to work on the truck where I park it. I also have a 28 foot carmate I use to move a Model T around going touring. I also would take it on some 500 mile trips pulling the trailer up through WV to PA. Here's some pictures, my friend calls it a Unicorn. It was a great find, it's been inside pretty much it's whole life and it's rust free. | |||
