RE: ISX crankshaft gear Actually.. If it is a one-off/rare situation, and of the rest of the truck components are aged, then replacing the whole crankshaft might actually be a better choice for the truck owner, rather than wasting several more days of trying to figure it out?. Would be a tough call, as the tranny would also have to be pulled... however, if it has a lot of miles on it, then a whole lot of other work like rear engine mounts, rear structure gasket, clutch, etc.etc. can also be done at the same time.
